  1. A no-frills Thai eatery offering the perennial faves, such as papaya and mango salads, tom yam and green curry. One of the best things about dining here is that you can keep it well under $15 per person for a full meal, including desserts. Be prepared to queue for a table during dinnertime (especially during weekends).

Must-haves: The tom yam soup ($6 per bowl, big enough for two to share) with a choice of a clear, thick or creamy coconut-milk base. It’s one of the most flavourful versions this reviewer has ever tasted. It’s hard not to love the green curry ($8), which is rich with just the right amount of coconut milk, as well as the stir-fried minced pork with basil and chilli ($6), with long beans added for extra crunch.
